We left Hunstanton and headed up to our friends in Lincoln. It was actually the first time we’d been to see them in Lincoln.

Jo (yes another Jo!) comes to see us in Brighton fairly regularly as her dad lives in Haywards Heath which is about 40 minutes away. We hadn’t seen Pete, her partner for quite a while tho.

It was still lovely weather so we planned a barbecue. But before the barbecue we were going out for cocktails. We went to a really nice place called ‘The Barge’ in Brayford right on the water and we were able to sit outside which was lovely.

3 different Martini’s! French, Pornstar and Expresso

We headed back for the barbecue around 8.30pm I think! By that time we were all hungry and had had a good catch up.

By the time we got back we were definitely ready for the barbecue . Veggie burgers and sausages for for me. Meat for everyone else. Also halloumi and veg kebabs and salad. Washed down with wine 😂 A great night was had by all.

The following day Jo took Dee and I sight seeing in Lincoln town centre whilst Pete went to play golf.

Lincoln Cathedral a grade 1 listed building and the 4th largest cathedral in the UK. It’s a gothic style building dating back to between 1185-1311!

It was a very impressive building both inside and out .

The architecture both inside and outside the cathedral was very intricate and makes you feel quite overwhelmed when you think about how much work actually went into it!

Lincoln also has a castle and although we didn’t actually go inside here’s a photo of Dee and Jo standing by the entrance.

We then had a wander around town and found a very interesting Cocktail shop! Apparently the only one of its kind. Cocktails are ready mixed and can be sent anywhere in the UK! They even had samples to try so we obviously had to try them out 🤣

After sight seeing and a nice lunch in between, it was back to Jo and Pete’s for another barbecue. We really were making the most of this lovely weather!

The intention was to go back to Brighton for Jovanna’s MOT which was booked for the 31st of August . Dee was intending to get back a bit earlier in order to put the new batteries and solar panels on the van that had been travelling inside the van with us since picking them up back in Orpington.

We were parked at the back of Jo and Pete’s garden in a perfect spot and not bothering anyone so they suggested Dee take advantage and fit them there after the weekend. This was a perfect solution as it was a much better place than we would have had back in Brighton allowing access to van with tools being close by.

We ended up staying until Thurs morning. It was as great as we got to spend more time with Pete and Jo and the job got done. Win win!

During the day Pete, Jo and Dee were working. I did get to do some yoga and stretching classes in the garden with Jo.

I also spent time sunbathing, catching up on social media and a bit of this blog! The one thing I missed was water!!!

Being in Lincoln means you are pretty land locked! Although there are rivers they are not really suitable for swimming . Here’s a photo of one .

Lots of green algae

I did find some Lincoln swimming groups but it seemed any outdoor lakes that were suitable had been turned into official places that needed memberships!

I needed to get wet! In the end out of desperation I booked a session at the local indoor swimming pool. I’ve never really been a pool swimmer and I worked out it must have been at least 5 years since I’d been in a pool and that was only because there was a pool and leisure centre at a hotel where we were staying to go to a wedding!

The pool was an interesting experience especially as it was the first time I’d been in a pool since getting into open water swimming. I hated the chlorine and it was definitely too warm! But it was better than nothing and good to get wet!

On Thurs we headed back to Brighton, ready to spend the bank holiday weekend with friends and ready for the MOT after the Bank Holiday.

  1. Not sure what happened above Jo but I was trying to say what a beautiful Cathedral you visited, too bad about being landlocked, and I definitely know what you mean about chlorine, disgusting stuff.
