It was such a great feeling to be back on the road again and sleeping in Jovanna. It was lovely to see family and getting to swim with other people was a definite bonus. Sleeping in a house was a nice change and a bit of a luxury, but it was great to be on the move again.
Our first stop that day was Loch Lomond. I’m not sure where it was exactly on Loch Lomond that we stopped but there were signs warning people of ‘very deep water’ and a ‘big drop’ .

I’m used to swimming in deep water but seeing the ‘danger signs’ was a bit off putting! I entered the water and put my head under to swim. There was a big and very steep drop, it felt really eerie. I didn’t like it. Suddenly there was a black fish swimming around which I didn’t like either! I didn’t actually stay in long after that. The only word I can use to describe it is “eerie” and certainly an experience. I know there was nothing to be scared of but it still made me want to get out.
Near the top of Loch Lomond we visited Inveruglas Pyramid-An Ceann Mor. It’s an 8 metre high pyramid which was installed in 2015. It gives a higher view of Loch Lomond.

After Loch Lomond we headed briefly to Glencoe which is actually a ski resort then on to Fort William and Glenfiddich.
Here’s some photos from Fort William.

Fort William was the first town we had seen for a while it’s located by the eastern shore of Loch Linnhe . We were parked right by the loch and walked into town . It was quite a busy high street and had everything there. It seemed to be a hub for everyone really. A place to stop before going to the islands like we were. But also a place to stop for walkers, maybe skiers and probably cyclists too. A gateway to lots of things.
From Fort William we went to see Glenfinnan Viaduct. It’s a famous part of the West highland railway. It has been known and admired by travellers for many years but more recently it became even more famous with scenes of The Hogwarts Express taking Harry Potter and his friend’s back to their school of magic and wizardry!

One of the reasons we chose to get the ferry to The Isle of Skye instead of the go over the bridge was so that we could visit some of the beaches close to Mallaig where the ferry goes from.
One of those beach’s is Camusdarach Beach. A beautiful white sandy beach. We had a look at it but as there was nowhere close where we could park for the night we actually stayed in a village of Morar close by and then cycled down to the beach in the morning so that I could swim.

The beaches were amazing and I loved swimming there.
After my swim we went in search of somewhere to get some food supplies. It turned out the the nearest shop was about 3 or 4 miles away in Arisaig. We set off on our bikes. It was a lovely cycle ride and when we got there we were really hungry so first we went for lunch in a really nice cafe.
It wasn’t quite lunch time yet so we ordered a coffee and waited.
Below is the drinks menu. When we saw the Scottish description of expresso and especially double expresso it did make us laugh. No offence at all if you are Scottish and reading this I think it’s just because ‘wee’ is not a word we use in England!
On the right is a photo of my lunch which was monk fish scampi, something I hadn’t had or even heard of before and yes it really was as nice as it looks .

Just one more night and our next stop is the ferry to Skye. I’m sure you have guessed that the next post is going to be about The Isle of Skye.
