Albania-Our Best Park Ups

We loved Albania so much that I decided to write a separate post featuring our favourite park ups.

All of these park ups will also be in our other Albania posts with a more in depth write up. I will link each to the relevant post.

I am writing in the order that we visited each place.

Buona Vila

The first place we visited that has made this list was Buona Vila, a ‘campsite’ on the beach south of Spille. Please note this is not a traditional campsite.

It’s a restaurant with parking that includes Wi-Fi, EHU (electric hook up), hot showers, toilets and laundry facilities. The cost was €10 or 1200 LEK a night.

It’s a family run business, father and son. They were both extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

We were given beers, a huge bag of oranges and some biscuits and a shot of raki. Ludo (the son) even took us into the local town to get our broken door hinge fixed.

Sadly we did not get to try the restaurant as it was out of season and they were having a new kitchen put in. They did show us some photos of some of their food though and it did look very good.

Here I am with Spartaco ( the father )

Benje Hot Springs

This place was just magical.

It was so peaceful with the hot springs, waterfalls and mountains. It had been on my wish list for ages and it was even better than I imagined.

At the time of going it was still very much unspoilt, although there was a cafe there that was closed. Parking all around was free and we stayed for 4 days. You would need to be self sufficient as there is nowhere to buy food.

I honestly don’t know how long it will be before this place changes and turns into a big tourist attraction with ‘proper’ paved access and parking and an entrance fee. I heard that since we left there were diggers doing something as you come in so I hope it isn’t any time soon.

Here’s a photo to show you how beautiful it is. If you’d like to see more

Albanica Winery

Wow! This place took our breath away. A restaurant and winery set high up with the most amazing views!

The food was all homemade and home grown. The food, the wine, the service and the location were all outstanding .

The owner and the staff are so friendly and helpful. We were told to treat it like our home and that we could stay as long as we wanted. We were allowed to stay for free after eating in the restaurant.

Here I am with the view. If you’d like to see more including what we had to eat,

Bar Ledh

This park up was an amazing find. It’s in the North and we found it going back into Albania from Montenegro.

It’s a hard place to describe, a very chilled beach bar/restaurant. The restaurant was actually closed as out of season. The owner Mario was not always there but trusted people with an honesty box for drinks and told everyone to treat it like their home.

There was a very good energy about this place as soon as we arrived. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and lots of friendly dogs being well looked after.

If you’d like to see more about Bar Ledh then here it is in more detail.

Mrizi i Zanave Restaurant

This park up is famous throughout Albania. It’s a restaurant, farm and vineyard.

They allow you to stay the night for free when you eat at the restaurant, they even provide water and electric hook up (EHU).

The food is a tasting menu, all homemade and home grown and exceptionally good value for money. The lunch and dinner menu I believe are the same . They also offer a breakfast menu.

If you ask a member of staff they will happily give you a tour of the whole place, its vast and well worth doing the tour.

Here’s the entrance to the restaurant, just to give you a taste.

Turtle Farm

Turtle Farm, 4km away from the capital Tirana was another amazing find.

Erjan and his family were excellent hosts. They allowed us to stay out of season along with another van from the UK . Erjan speaks very good English.

His mother made a massive breakfast for 7 people!

Erjan spent alot of time with us and the family from the other van definitely going above and beyond. He has big plans for the future of this place. We definitely recommend going there if you are in the area.

Here is our post if you would like to read more about our stay at Turtle Farm.
