Kaş to Antalya

After a huge Turkish breakfast at Saklikent Gorge (see previous post) we headed to Kaş.

We’d heard that Kaş was beautiful but also quite touristy. We headed to a park up that we had found on park4night . It was quite central and had good reviews. It was near an amphitheatre.

It was on the street. After a quick walk around I decided that I really didn’t like this park up or Kaş, at least not this part of Kaş.

Firstly it was really hot, and although the sea was there, there was no actual beach! It wasn’t really possible to sit outside in the street partly due to the heat and obviously not blocking the pavement.

I walked into town which was about 5 minutes walk away it was very busy and very touristy.

After the walk into town we found another British van had parked in front of us. We had a nice chat to the couple in there who were called Seb and Christine.

I had another park up marked just in case. It was only half an hour away and had been recommended by the Harris’s. We decided to go there.

It was a small bay with a limited amount of parking. We were very lucky as someone was leaving as we arrived and we were able to get a space. So glad we did, this place was amazing.

It was called Mermaid Beach, already a plus in my book 🤣

In contrast to the park up in the centre of Kaş this one had a really nice laid back ‘beach feel’ to it immediately.

The first thing I did was attempt to get in the sea. It was now early evening and there were actually some quite big waves.

After the sea we walked passed the bars and restaurants in the bay. We chose the one that was playing good music.

Perfect ‘beach music’ nice and chilled but with a beat. We sat at the bar and ordered a beer each. We immediately got chatting to the barman who also turned out to be the owner. He was really nice and friendly.

One beer turned into two and it was just so nice at this bar that we didn’t want to leave. We carried on drinking and chatting and eventually ordered some chips they were ‘proper’ homemade chips. It was also the first thing we’d eaten since our huge Turkish breakfast late morning.

The bar is Yakamoz Beach Bar. You can find them here on instagram

I loved this whole place. Everything was ‘spot on’ in my book. The beach was so chilled, the sea to pop in and out of and this lovely bar.

In the morning the owner of the bar joined in when I did yoga!

After a day on the beach for me and a day chilling inside the van for Dee we were back at our favourite bar eating local grilled sardines and homemade chips with wine and beer.

The following morning through was time to move on a bit further. We had booked our van in to get some bodywork done at a garage in Antalya early on Weds morning so we wanted to reach Antalya by Tuesday night. We also felt that we’d spent too much money here as it was so nice!

Here’s some final. Photos from our time there

Our next stop was another beach park up a bit closer to Antalya, probably about an hour away, but still 150km to Antalya.

It was a great park up right on the beach but it was very crowded and sadly we didn’t really get a good spot. We stayed only 1 night for convenience. Didn’t really get any photos except this selfie below.

We really wanted to go to Mount Olympus to see the chimera flames, which have been burning for thousands of years but there is a market on a Tuesday and you cannot stay at park up on a Monday night . So we went a bit further on to Tekirova. Again it wasn’t the best park up but it was ok for 1 night and again it was right on the beach. Here’s a photo of me swimming with a boat!

We stayed until late afternoon on Tuesday when we drove to a park up near the beach at Antalaya.

I managed to get a quick swim there and we also had a walk along the promenade before going back to the van to make dinner.

We had reached Antalya ready to get the van to the workshop for the bodywork in the morning .

Our next post will start with us taking the van there.
