We left Cappadocia and headed to the coast. We had to get our friend Louise back to Antalya airport for Sunday evening as her flight was on Monday morning.
We had decided to do the coastal route back so that it would be different to our route to Cappadocia which had taken us inland via the city of Konya where we were able to see the Whirling Dervishes. You can see the post by clicking here in case you missed it https://jodeeontheroad.com/2023/09/17/a-quick-stop-at-antalya-then-white-water-rafting-and-the-whirling-dervishes/
We headed for Mersin which was straight down. We actually found a park up for the night on the outskirts of Mersin, still on the coast
We went for a walk and found a chocolate club. We obviously had to go inside 🤣

In the morning we moved on, further along but still Mersin. We probably drove for around 3 hours. It was a lovely beach stop.
Louise and I got to have a swim and we had lunch. We then decided we should move on a bit further due time and distance.

We stayed at Gazipasa, a bit further along the coast. We arrived quite late. It was a rocky beach so we didn’t get to swim there in the morning. Instead we moved to another park up which was about 15 minutes away. There was a nice beach and also a cafe where we were able to get a Turkish breakfast as Louise hadn’t tried one yet.

In case you missed my previous post where I mentioned Turkish breakfasts, they are big, with lots of small dishes as you can see above. They also come with eggs and various other bits depending on the place you order from of course, but what you see above is a traditional Turkish breakfast, usually eaten between 10am and noon and no need for lunch after!
Louise and I managed a swim before the Turkish breakfast and then we had a few hours of sunbathing and dipping in and out of the sea whilst Dee pottered around with various things in the van.
We then left late afternoon, probably around 4pm to drive the last bit of the journey back to Antalya. We had decided to park up near Lara Beach so that Louise could see the Duden Waterfalls, or at least the lower waterfall that goes into the sea, which is the more spectacular than the Lower Duden falls in our opinion, although if you have time they are both worth a visit. You can read more about the Duden waterfalls in our previous post. https://jodeeontheroad.com/2023/08/31/chimera-flames-to-a-wild-beach-park-up/
We then went out for a nice meal as it was Louise’s last night.

The following morning Louise and I got to practice yoga at the top of the waterfall.

We dropped Louise off at Antalya airport, it had been great having her with us and I think she had a good time.
We now have 11 days to head out of Turkey. Our next post will start at Kalyan and document our journey out of this amazing country
