We were on our own again after dropping our friend Louise off at the airport. We headed to Kemer to get our washing done. We now had 12 days left before we had to leave Turkey.
Kemer
Kemer turned out to be a very touristy place I didn’t even get any photos, but it was convenient to get our washing done. We stayed only 1 night
Bildibi
The following day we drove 20 minutes to another touristy place called Bildibi. We were going to meet Estelle Keeber, the Insta Queen. I have followed her for quite a while and learnt loads about instagram. Here is a link to her instagram if you want to learn more about how she can help you grow your instagram. https://instagram.com/immortalmonkeyofficial?igshid=NzZhOTFlYzFmZQ==
She had arrived in Turkey late the night before with her 2 sons so we were going meet her at her hotel. It was lovely to finally meet her in person.

Kalkan
We were heading towards the border with Bulgaria, our next destination. This meant going back through some of the places we had visited previously. We chose to go to Kalkan as it was somewhere we hadn’t got to stop at before.
It was a lovely park up with great views and a little open air cafe. You could get down to the beach directly opposite via some steps going all the way down.
As you can see it was a little cove which was great but obviously no option to swim far!

We stayed at the park up for 2 nights. Kalkan also had a lovely town which we went and explored and also had a nice meal out in a restaurant with lovely views.

We left Kalkan and headed to Akyaka. This was the place we were heading to back in April, we didn’t make it as we ended up stranded for a week at Yakatan when our clutch needed replacing. Here is the link to the post if you missed it. https://jodeeontheroad.com/2023/07/06/hotel-california-and-a-day-out-in-bodrum/
We arrived in Akyaka, the park up wasn’t great and was very hot so we decided to head to the harbour instead where there was supposed to be a park up. We couldn’t actually find the park up and ended up having to reverse out of the car park. Maybe we just weren’t meant to go to Akyaka!
We then headed to a wild park beach park up on the way to Bodrum. This looked like a great spot but sadly someone got the last place just before us.
We headed further along the coast, the park up which was a car park by the beach was full, we were going to park on the road nearby until a man at the car park told us that they might try and close the road in the morning!
It was getting late but we decided to head back to Söke which was a park up we’d really liked back in April. Here is the post from April in case you want to refer back https://jodeeontheroad.com/2023/06/19/pamukkale-soke-and-a-turkish-hammam/
We arrived quite late, it was dark and it was very busy there were vans, caravans and tents everywhere. We couldn’t even get close to where we’d parked back in April! Instead we parked in what could only be described as an overflow car park!
At around 7am the following morning we went for a walk. It was quite unbelievable as it was nothing like the lovely beach park up from April. Every inch of space was taken up. We even thought it was actually a fire hazard!
We had some breakfast and left, we headed a bit further up to another beach park up called Ahmetbeyli. It was much quieter here and we stayed 2 days.
Here I am at home by the sea.

Our next stop was another beach park up called Burhaniye Plaj Yolu, just 1.5 hours from the city of Cannukkale.

We stayed for one night. The following morning we had a walk round and decided to move on again. This time to Edrimit a bit further round the coast.
Edrimit was an interesting park up because it was right on the beach and also right next to a police station. It did feel very safe there.

You can see how close we were to the beach. I really liked it but not much there for Dee. We stayed 1 night and most of the following day before leaving and heading for Çanakkale
Çanakkale
Çanakkale is a historic and picturesque city located in northwestern Turkey.
It is known for its pivotal role in World War I, particularly the Battle of Gallipoli. The city is home to significant memorials and museums that pay tribute to this historic event.
Additionally, Çanakkale boasts a stunning landscape, with the Dardanelles Strait which connects the Aegean Sea to the Sea of Marmara.
Çanakkale also had a nice promenade to walk down and I even managed a quick swim as there was a small beach

Çanakkale was our last stop before crossing the bridge back into the European part of Turkey.
We stayed 1 night then headed across the bridge towards Kesan. We had arranged to meet The Harris’s in Kesan, the people we travelled with for 2 weeks back in April. They were coming from Istanbul and also heading out of Turkey.
Our next post will start with Keşan and take us to the Bulgarian border.
