We left Bordeaux and headed to Saint Germain les Belles, which is a village near Limoges. Our good friend Michael had recently bought a house there with his wife Helene and her sister Lulu. Since Brexit Michael was having to use this house as a European base for work purposes.
It was the first time we had been there, we arrived in the evening on Friday and Michael and Lulu had very kindly offered to take us into Limoges the next day so we could have a look round before our other friends arrived on Tuesday.

Limoges
Limoges, in central France was roughly half an hourās drive from Michaelās house.
We had a good look around the market for some local fresh produce as Michael had lots of lovely recipes planned.

Limoges is very vibrant, great for art lovers, history enthusiasts and foodies. It is famous for itās porcelain and has earnt a global reputation for its fine craftsmanship. If you want to find out more then you can visit the Adrien Dubouche National Museum which tells the story of Limoges porcelain industry and also houses an impressive collection. I canāt say any more about the museum as we didnāt actually go there!
After the market we went out for a lovely lunch before heading back to Saint Germanine les Belles
Saint Germaine Les Belles
Saint Germaine les Belles is a picturesque village that dates back to medieval times. At the heart of the village is Saint Germaine Church. The village is very French and there is often festivals and markets.

If you walk through the village and down the hill there is a gorgeous lake that is also a great swim spot. There was also a cafe serving fish and chips! It had been so long that we had to have some. It was ok but not English fish and chips.

For the first few days we were able to park in the car park in the village and very close to Michaels house but they were setting up for a village fete and after 4 nights we had to move to the local campsite which was about 15 minutes walk down the hill, next to the lake.
Just after we moved our friends arrived. The weather was extremely hot, in the late 30ās. We still had a good time and loved seeing everyone. We had some fabulous food and lots of wine and also a trip down to the lake.
I even persuaded Martyn to come in for a swim!

On Thurs Morning Terry, Sian and Martyn all left to return to Bordeaux for a few days before flying back.
We moved on too. Our next stop was Moutier DāAhun. We hope you will join us for our next post which starts there.
